Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the UN organizations in Vienna (UNOV)
The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) was established on 1 January 1980 as the third United Nations Headquarter afterNew York and Geneva (before Nairobi). It performs representation and liaison functions with permanent missions to the United Nations based in Vienna. Since May 2002 HE Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations is the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). UN Office at Vienna is composed of the following organizations accredited in Vienna and headquartered at the Vienna International Centre (VIC): IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), CTBTO (Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization), UNCITRAL Since early 90s Permanent Missions of Tajikistan to abovementioned UN agencies has been established. Nowadays Tajik permanent representations continue fruitful cooperation with Vienna based United Nations Office and promote interaction between Government and UN organizations regarding elaboration and implementation of short-and long-term projects aimed at technical assistance to the Country in specific spheres of economy and sustainable development.
