Countinuation of the President Emomali Rahmon's visit to Brussels

On the second day of the official visit to Brussels, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a number of meetings.

 At the beginning of the meeting with the NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with practical partnership with this organization in the framework of Partnership for Peace Programme and named the implementation of Individual Partnership Cooperation Programme between Tajikistan and NATO as an effective means of strengthening relations between the two sides.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen highly appreciated the role of Tajikistan in practical assistance to ISAF in Afghanistan and active facilitation of socio-economic revival of this country and named our country in this process as "a stable and reliable partner of NATO".

Official visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Brussels

On 9th April 2013 the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has arrived to Brussels for an official visit.

During this trip the President of Tajikistan is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamrokhon Zarifi, State Advisor of President for Foreign Policy Erkin Rahmatulloev, Minister of Energy and Industry Gul Sherali, Chairman of State Committee on Investments and State Property Management Davlatali Saidov, Chairman of Commission for Ecology of Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli Mahmadsharif Haqdodov and other officials.

Upon arrival to Brussels President of Tajikistan has met High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs & Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton. During this meeting issues of relations between Tajikistan and European Union were discussed.

Presentation of the Book

On 19 March 2013 celebration of "Navruz" and presentation of the book "The Tajik Golden Heritage" authored by Tajikistan Foreign Minister H.E. Hamrokhon Zarifi, took place in Vienna in Belvedere Palace. This event was organized by the Embassy of Tajikistan to Austria/Permanent Mission to OSCE, UN and other International Organizations in Vienna.

Representatives from government and private bodies, public and political figures, representatives from scientific and cultural circles of Austria, including President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences Prof. Dr. Helmut Denk, OSCE Secretary General Ambassador Lamberto Zannier, Head of Department for Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, Southern Caucasus, Central Asia, Central European Initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs Ambassador Heidemaria Gurer as well as Tajik compatriots participated at the festive event.

PARTICIPATION IN THE OPENING OF A NEW BUILDING OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Today, a new, grand building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which comprises 8 floors was opened with the participation of the President of the country Emomali Rahmon.
The Head of State Emomali Rahmon and heads and veterans of diplomatic corps of Tajikistan planted two 50-year-old Californian redwoods at the courtyard of the new building. These immense trees, which live till 3 thousand years and more, have been planted with hopes and prayers for durability and long life of the independent Tajikistan.
The Head of State Emomali Rahmon got acquainted with working conditions created in this building and highly appraised the result of works of its builders and technicians. This building has all working conditions for the ministry’s officers, reception of foreign guests, meetings, conferences and other events.

COOPERATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN WITH THE REPUBLIC OF AUSTRIA

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Austria have been established on March 25, 1992. Tajikistan’s Embassy in Vienna was opened in 1997. Tajik-Austrian political relationship embraces constructive dialogue that has been set in the course of the meetings of heads of states and ministries of foreign affairs. From April 26 to April 28, 2005 in Dushanbe passed the first meeting of the joint Tajik-Austrian economic commission. For the purpose of deepening of the bilateral economic relations following the results of a meeting of the party signed the protocol. The meeting of representatives of the private sector and the Tajik-Austrian businessmen held on November 14-15, 2005. The wide range of issues, representing mutual interest, including issues of trade and economic cooperation. were discussed. TAJIKISTAN BECAME A FULL MEMBER OF WTO

Dushanbe, March 4 (NIAT "Khovar".) – On March 2, 2013 the Republic of Tajikistan has officially joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). The process of accession of Tajikistan to WTO began in 2001. In 2010, Tajikistan was granted the status of an observer. Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan has ratified the Protocol on 9 January in the last year. The protocol was signed by less than a month before – December 10, 2012 by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and WTO Director-General Pascal Limy. At the beginning of January, the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan extended to the WTO Secretariat a protocol on accession of the republic to the WTO. February 4 representative of republic sent instrument of ratification of the Protocol on the accession of Tajikistan to the WTO Secretariat in the organization in Geneva. Tajikistan was the second republic in Central Asia after Kyrgyzstan to join the WTO.

The meeting of the Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of Tajikistan with the Ambassador of Turkey

On March 6, Nizomiddin Zohidov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan had a meeting with the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Munis Dirik. At the beginning of conversation the Ambassador of Turkey presented the letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly country Ahmet Davutoglu to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Hamrokhon Zarifi concerning carrying out the international exhibition EXPO-2020 at the initiative of the Turkish side in Izmir. During the meeting the parties discussed various aspects of development of the bilateral relations in the light of agreements which were reached during official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomalii Rahmon to the Republic Turkey in December, 2012. New Europe: How can you characterise Tajik-EU co-operation today? What are the future prospects?

Meeting of Permanent Representative of Tajikistan with vice-president of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber

February 26, 2013, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the International Organizations in Vienna, Сhargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Tajikistan to Austria Ismatullo Nasredinov met with Vice-President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Richard Schenz. R. Schenz and I. Nasredinov touched upon issue of preparing and signing of bilateral document between Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, which creates a framework for further cooperation in the field of economic, trade and investments. The sides agreed that Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and Tajikistan Embassy in Vienna will continue regular contacts to facilitate economic ties between two countries. Вчера, 20 февраля, Президент Таджикистана Эмомали Рахмон принял помощника государственного секретаря США по вопросам Центральной и Южной Азии Роберта Блэйка. Об этом сегодня сообщает пресс-служба президента РТ. Эмомали Рахмон и Роберт Блейк в ходе встречи обсудили широкий спектр вопросов сотрудничества Таджикистана и США, выразив удовлетворение развитием плодотворных взаимоотношений между этими странами. «Роберт Блейк от имени Правительства США выразил благодарность главе Таджикистана Эмомали Рахмону и народу страны за значимый вклад в обеспечение безопасности и стабильности региона, а также за активное содействие в восстановлении мирной жизни в Афганистане, социально-экономическое развитие этой многострадальной страны», - заявляет пресс-служба.
